Public Protector Mkhwebane Gets A Clean Audit For The First Time In 25 Years

The Public Protector's office will is celebrating the first clean audit report in 25 year since it was established. This happens under the leadership of Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane who has elevated the PPSA's office since she took over.

The PPSA's office did not achieve a clean auditor during the period of Advocate Thuli Madonsela.

The audited financial statements for 2019/2020 tell the story of an institution in good financial health. Its accumulated deficit dropped to R1 million in 2019/2020 from R2.6 million in 2018/2019 and R19 million in 2017/2018.

Mkhwebane has also achieved 80% of set targets which has never happened in the institution previously. She has also finalized 95% of the institutions caseload within the set turnaround time.

The institution further exceeded its targets on systematic investigations and/or interventions in that it identified and investigated three instead of planned two.
