Zondo Angry Over Pravin Gordhan Dodges Cross-Examination by Tom Moyane

"Maybe the solution is to make sure that summons are issued against everyone who is supposed to appear before the commission," Zondo

Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan has failed to show up at the State Capture Commission for cross-examination. Gordhan was due to appear before the commission to be cross-examined by former SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane.

Gordhan applied for postponement of his appearance, a moved that upset Judge Zondo. Zondo expressed his unhappiness about Gordhan's actions and refused to grant him his requested date of the 31st of August 2020.

“Cabinet on its own cannot be more important than him appearing before this commission. There would need to be something more,” said Judge Zondo.

“Maybe the solution is to make sure that summons are issued against everyone who is supposed to appear before the commission. I am not happy but I will postpone it to a date that I will fix,” Zondo added.

Advocate advocate Mfesane Sibotho did not oppose Gordhan's postponement application.

Zondo granted the postponement application to a date still to be determined, but Gordhan requested that he appear on August 31.
