The man who appears wearing underpants and a t-shirt is recorded sliding down of a tall building in China. The video shows the man placing his back against a wall with his one leg against a concrete column in front of him.
He is seen making an emergency phone call with his cellphone while trying to support his body weight with his legs.
Social media users suggested on various platforms that the man had placed himself in a dangerous position as he was trying to flee from a flat after the partner of the person he was visiting walked in. These claims were never verified.
Rumours later suggested that the man failed to hold on for long and plunged to his death. It was reported that the incident took place in the city of Maoming in southern China's Guangdong Province.
The police in Maoming have dismissed the widespread allegation. They denied having received any reports of fatality that matched the content of the recording.
The police statement did not share details as to whether the man did die from the fall.
