AbaThembu Royal Family Removes Dalindyebo, Replace Him With His Son Azenathi

This comes after imbizo was called to discuss feuds between Dalindyebo and his son Prince Azenathi

The AbaThembu royal family has taken a resolution for remove Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo and replaced him with his son Azenathi. Royal family Spokesperson Chief Dumisani Mgudlwa confirmed the resolution.

This comes after imbizo was called to discuss feuds between Dalindyebo and his son Prince Azenathi.

In May, the royal family penned a letter to Xolile Nqatha, MEC of cooperative governance and traditional affairs, asking him to explain why Azenathi continued to receive a salary/stipend, a state-sponsored vehicle and other benefits, despite his acting period having lapsed on March 8.

In year 2015 Dalindyebo was convicted of arson, kidnapping, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and defeating the ends of justice.

His son Azenathi took the reigns after his father was released from prison last December. Last month Dalindyebo said he wanted Azenathi out of the royal family as he wanted to officially shut down the Bumbane Great Place Palace which Azenathi currently occupies.

However, Azenathi has stood his ground, with Mtirara saying the king’s claim was “nonsense” as the matter should have first been discussed within the royal family instead of being spread to the whole world.

"This is devoid of the truth as there has not been any DNA proof. His son is ready to take a DNA test," said Mtirara. He maintained that some royal family members recognised Azenathi as Dalindyebo’s real son because his “laughter, smile and walk resemble that of his father and no one else”.
