A petition calling for Dr. Nkosazana Zuma to step down is active on Change.org website and has so far been signed by 50515 people.
It is however very strange that most of signatories of the 'Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Must Step Down' petition are white.
It is not clear what triggered this petition but here are the reasons provided on it:
- Why should we as people with rights sit back and allow just another person to take away our freedom as citizens
- We should all have the rights to our own bodies and consequences thereafter
- We should stand together and not let our freedom slip through our hands
- We as the people in a democracy should have a say on who should be tho ones to look after us as a nation
This comes just few days after British American Tobacco company threatened to take legal actions against her, demanding that she lifts her ban of the sale of cigarette.
Dr. Nkosazana Zuma has not responded to BAT's demands and has not commented publicly about the looming court battle.
