Jacob Zuma To Spill The Bins On His Arms Deal Trial

Former President Jacob Zuma has finally got the date to spills the bins on what is going to be the biggest trial in the history of South Africa. The date for his trial was initially set for 6 May but has since been moved to June 23.

According to news reports, an agreement has finally been reached to have Zuma going for his 'arms deal trial' after he withdrew his court application for the permanent stay. Many have applauded him for bringing his matter to finality as he promises to spill the bins.

“I’ve always said I wanted my day in court. It is (time for) South Africans to hear the truth. My silence has always been to keep unity, but it is now time,” Zuma told Independent Media.

According to Zuma's newly appointed attorney Eric Mabuza, the withdrawal of the Constitutional Court application “paves the way for Zuma to prepare for the trial. Zuma want to demonstrate that he did not benefit from the Arms Deal.

Just few weeks ago Zuma sacked his lawyer Daniel Mantsha and replaced his with another big gun Eric Mabuza who represented the former CEO of Old Mutual Peter Moyo. Mantsha also recently represented the Gauteng Liquor Board against government.

Zuma is retaining his counsel, advocate Muzi Sikhakhane who recently made headlines when he took the State Capture Commission to task on procedural matters. Sikhakhane has accused Zuma's sacked lawyer Mantsha about 'errors' as well as arguments that had long been dropped by Zuma’s lawyers before they even approached the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Advocate Sikhakhane has reportedly assembled a highly skilled team that will advise the former president “in the biggest trial” in the history of South Africa.
