DJ Black Coffee Buys Gallo Music Group Stake

Internationally renowned South African DJ Black Coffee has announced that he is new owner of Gallo shares. This comes after he acquired stake in Gallo Music Group as a part of a newly signed equity deal.

Black Coffee bought a stake in Gallo Music Investment through his investment company called FlightMode Digital. 

The Lebashe Group bought Gallo Music Investment for R75m from its former owners Tiso Blackstar in March this year.

"I am honoured to announce that my investment company FlightModeSA has officially acquired a stake in Gallo Music Group, as a part of a newly signed equity deal, I am now one of the major shareholders of this incredible piece of South African Music culture and history," said Black Coffee.

Black Coffee says he wants to change the music ecosystem from what was a highly exploitative system, to one of renewal and fairness.

"With Gallo as one of the greatest music company’s in the world, we can start to build a new equitable African Music narrative, in an environment where the artist thrives," he added.

Lebashe chair Tshepo Mahloele said that the collaboration with internationally renowned DJ Black Coffee will usher in a new era for the SA music business on a global scale.

“It is also the beginning of an industry revolution where African artists are part of structures that are fair and encourage new ways to monetise content,” Lebashe added.
