Pam Golding Properties investigated for alleged money laundering

Pam Golding Properties is a subject in investigation after it was featured in what is known as Panama papers.

It is alleged that Pam Golding received illegal monies in their trust account on behalf of Mozambique former President Armando Guebuza’s son. Two properties worth R50 million were bought by Guebuza's son in Dainfern in nothern Johannesburg and Kyalami Estate.

Pam Golding is mentioned in the US court papers to have received illegal funds in their trust account on behalf of Guebuza’s son.

The funds were sent through Privinvest, a Lebanon-based shipbuilding company that was identified by US public prosecutors as part of a probe into Mozambique’s $2-billion bond that is alleged to have indebted Mozambicans and defrauded investors.

Privinvest allegedly served as a primary conduit for the payment of bribes to high-level Mozambican officials including the former finance minister, Manuel Chang, prosecutors said in the court documents.

The Financial Intelligence Centre and the Estate Agency Affairs Board have launched an investigation after a report on Mail & Guardian last week.

Pam Golding is accused of facilitating the purchase of properties when well aware of the contravention of the law.
