[#SONABebate2020] Parliament must move to Gauteng Province, Shivambu

"What is difficult with dismantling that basic and simplest of the apartheid and colonial pacts."

Economic Freedom Fighters Deputy President Floyd Shivambu has proposed that parliament should move from Cape Town to Gauteng. Shivambu was speaking during President Cyril Ramaphosa's state of the nation debate.

"The people from Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, KwaZulu Natal and from the Northern Cape will have the opportunity to drive in in the morning to make their submission and drive back to their provinces," proposed Shivambu.

Shivambu says that moving parliament to Gauteng will make it much easier for for members of parliament to account to parliament.

"What is difficult with dismantling that basic and simplest of the apartheid and colonial pacts? why are we still trapped there?" Shivambu asked.

Shivambu accused the ruling party of lack of decisiveness on this matter. He then reminded parliament about the events that took place when the ANC was formed. Shivambu said this as he was attempting to demonstrate that the ANC lacks decisiveness.

"Once they had launched the Union on the 31st of May 1910, the South African Natives National Congress was a response 'whites only' government. The Natives Congress was recognizing the British crown in its first constitution. It was also saying that we are going to be a mediation between the black people and these whites only government." said Shivambu.

He accused the ANC of failing to provide solution but instead acts as a mediator between black people and white capitalist establishment.
